What is Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time?

Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time (powered by Sunbit) enables you to offer your customers the opportunity to purchase products and services in the shop and pay later through integrated financing.

Enable Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time in Your Shop

To enable Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time, your shop must have Shopmonkey Payments enabled. Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time can be toggled on and off in your general settings.

Select the Settings icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Select Payments under the Settings section on the left-hand side.

Select the Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time tab. Toggle on Sunbit.

Sunbit Application (If Applicable)

The Sunbit signup experience is completely self-service and takes a matter of 2-3 minutes on average. Check out this example of a shop’s sign-up flow. Sunbit does collect ACH information (bank account and routing number) as part of the onboarding process, so Sunbit typically recommends that you have this information handy when you get started.

Once toggled on, you will receive a welcome email from Sunbit that includes information about the product and an opportunity to schedule a 15-minute training with Sunbit. Sunbit will also mail you physical brochures to share with your customers and a brochure holder to display at your shop.

Sharing an Estimate with Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time

When sending an estimate to a customer, toggle on Allow Online Payment to enable the customer to Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time through Sunbit.

The customer will be able to select whether or not they’d like to use Sunbit to Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time. If they choose to do this, the shop will see Paid with Sunbit on an order paid via Sunbit.

Can I surcharge on Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time transactions?

No. Surcharging is only allowed on credit card transactions. Because Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time transactions cannot be paid with a credit card, there is no situation where surcharging is possible on a Buy Now Pay-Over-Time transaction. It is not legal to surcharge on Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time transactions. Adding a surcharge would also violate Sunbit’s pricing structure and could impact the ability to offer Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time at your shop.
