Flexible Payments with Affirm is a powerful way for Canada-based and US-based shops to help customers afford high-ticket repairs, while improving shop cash flow and increasing order value. Here’s how it helps your shop:

2. Get Paid in Full, Up Front: No waiting for installments. Your shop is paid right away by Affirm, while the customer pays over time.
3. Flexible Payment Options: Customers can choose from Pay in 4 (interest-free on purchases $50–$250 CAD) or monthly installments up to 60 months, based on eligibility.
4. Customer-Friendly Terms: Transparent Terms for Customers: No hidden fees, no late fees, and no penalties. Customers always know what they’re agreeing to—no surprises.
5. Reduce Friction at Checkout: Offering payment flexibility builds trust and helps overcome price objections, especially for more expensive repairs.

In-Store Marketing Resources and Assets for Your Shop

Check out Affirm’s In-Store Marketing Resources and Assets. It contains a library of printable signage and other materials that can be used to boost in-person visibility and encourage more clients to ask about flexible financing.

Enable Flexible Payments in Your Shop

To enable Flexible Payments with Affirm, your shop must have Shopmonkey Payments enabled. Flexible Payments can be toggled on and off in your general settings.

Select the Settings icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Select Payments under the Settings section on the left-hand side.

Select the Buy Now, Pay-Over-Time tab. Toggle on Affirm.

Sharing an Estimate with Flexible Payments

When sending an estimate to a customer, toggle on Allow Online Payment to allow the customer to choose Flexible Payments with Affirm.

The customer will be able to select whether or not they’d like to use Affirm for this purchase. If they choose to do this, the shop will see Paid with Affirm on an order paid via Affirm.

Can I surcharge on Affirm transactions?

No. Surcharging is only allowed on credit card transactions. Because flexible payment transactions cannot be paid with a credit card, there is no situation where surcharging is possible on an Affirm transaction. It is not legal to surcharge on flexible payment transactions. Adding a surcharge to Affirm transactions could impact the ability to offer flexible financing at your shop.

Recent underwriting policy changes by our pay over time partner, Affirm, may impact the availability of this buy now pay over time option for end customers. This change reflects adjustments to their internal risk assessment and compliance protocols.
