FAQs
What if I have an order for a tax-exempt customer?
All line items on an order for a tax-exempt customer will be mapped to the Exempt tax group in QuickBooks.
What happens to invoices I had sent to QuickBooks Online previously?
Previously sent QuickBooks invoices will not be updated automatically. However, if you click the Update in QuickBooks button or otherwise resend the invoice to QuickBooks, the QuickBooks invoice will be updated to use the new tax mapping behavior.
Why does my invoice for a tax-exempt customer appear with taxable line items in QuickBooks?
If the tax toggles on a line item are modified manually, that line item is no longer considered tax exempt in Shopmonkey. For example, if your standard tax types are GST and PST, removing the GST tax toggle on a line item will treat that line item as non-taxable instead of tax exempt in Shopmonkey. This is not new behavior, but may be more visible with this new functionality. When creating tax-exempt invoices in Shopmonkey, do not change the line item tax toggles.
Can I remove the Shopmonkey Tax Agency, Tax Groups, and Tax Codes in QuickBooks Online?
Yes. You can mark those items as inactive in QuickBooks Online.
What happens if one of my invoices requires a different tax mapping??
Specifying a different province’s tax type and percentage on a Shopmonkey invoice will not change where the taxable line items on the order are mapped. Your settings specify that all taxable items will be mapped to the QuickBooks tax group you selected. If you need to make changes to a specific line item’s tax group, this can be manually modified in QuickBooks.
