Use service level categories to categorize services and canned services to provide more detailed reporting data for your shop.
Service Level Categories vs. Line Item Categories
Service level categories work similarly to line item categories. While line item categories assign categories to an individual line item within a service, the service level category assigns the category to the entire service.
If I assign a service level category to a service, does it replace my line item categories for line items on that service?
No. A line item within a service with an assigned service level category can also have its own assigned line item category. However, it is recommended to choose a primary method of categorization in your shop for reporting consistency.
