Global Search

The Global Search bar will be in the top left of your screen, no matter what page in Shopmonkey you’re on.

Search for shop information such as:

• Customers

  • First or last name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

• Fleets

  • Name

  • Account number

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Address

• Orders

  • Order number

  • Order name

• Vehicles

  • Make/Model/Year

  • License plate

  • VIN

As you search, results will be displayed in a list below. Select a filter tab to help you find what you’re looking for.

For example, there are a few things that you may be looking for when you search for a customer’s name.

• If you select the Orders tab, orders for that customer will populate.

• If you select the Vehicles tab, vehicles associated with the searched customer will populate.

• If you select the Customers tab, their customer profile will appear.

Search Best Practices

Partial Searches for Inventory Items

Use partial searches (searching for only part of the search term) to search for inventory parts. Shopmonkey allows for partial searches of at least 3 characters of the beginning (prefix) or end (postfix) of a search. 

Let’s use the part number ABCDE-1234XYZ as an example.

• You can do a partial search with prefixes with at least 3 characters. These prefixes automatically split on non-alphanumeric characters. So for this example, you could search for ABC, ABCD, ABCDE or 123, 1234, 1234X, 1234XY and find a match.
• You can do a partial search of postfixes for the last 3, 4, or 5 characters of a word. Postfixes also automatically split on non-alphanumeric characters. So for this example, you could search for CDE, BCDE, XYZ, 4XYZ, 34XYZ and find a match.

With this knowledge of how partial searches works, you may consider updating your part number naming conventions in your shop.

Partial searches for VIN & License Plates

Use partial searches (searching for only part of the search term) to search for VIN and license plate data. Shopmonkey allows for partial searches of at least 3 characters of the beginning (prefix) of a search for VIN or license plate. 

Let’s use the part number ABC123 as an example.

• You can do a partial search with prefixes with at least 3 characters. So for this example, you could search for ABC, ABC1, ABC12 and find a match.

VIN and license plate searches do not allow for postfix partial searches (characters at the end of an alphanumeric sequence)

• Up & down arrows to navigate the list

• Enter to select an item

• CMD K to open Global Search
